Washington County EOC Head Start/Early Head Start is looking for dynamic individuals to promote and support the program's School Readiness goals and the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) goals.  The following positions are currently available:

Temporary Family Advocate - Hudson Falls/Whitehall Center

Salary: $13.74/hr. - 52 weeks per year - 35 hours a week

**This position is a four month position, starting in August.**

Duties/Responsibilities & Qualification:

  • Same as the Family Advocate position above

2 Head Start Lead Teachers - Dix Avenue Center & Whitehall Center

Salary:  $15.00/hr. - 44 weeks per year - 35 hours per year

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver lessons that are in accordance with the  program's curriculum while meeting Early Learning Standards.
  • Create positive, child-directed learning environments that are responsive to children's strengths, interests, and needs.
  • Develop strategies to guide positive behaviors in children.
  • Build good, open communication with children, families and staff.
  • Conduct home visits and parent contacts.
  • Observe and record an assessment of children's growth, development and behavior using electronic assessment portfolios.
  • Undertake administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (or a baccalaureate or advanced degree in any subject, and course work equilavent to a major relating E.C.E. with experience teaching preschool-age children).
  • Minimum of two  years working with young children, preferably in a preschool setting.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • An understanding of young children and low-income families, and appreciation of parents as the primary educator of their children.

 

3 Head Start Assistant Teacher - 2 Dix Avenue Center - 1 Whitehall Center

Salary:  $11.50/hr. - 44 weeks per year - 35 hours a week

Duties/Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma with a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), or an AA and/or BA degree in any area or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
  • At least one year experience in a preschool classroom as a volunteer or paid staff.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • An understanding of young children and low-income families, and appreciation of parents as the primary educator of their children.

 

Head Start Teacher's Aide - Whitehall Center

Salary:  $11.00 - 44 weeks per year - 35 hours a week

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Reading, writing and communication skills necessary to perform job responsibilites.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • An understanding of young children and low-income families, and appreciation of parents as the primary educator of their children.

Child Health Nurse, RN - Hudson Falls

Salary:  $16.80/hr. - 52 weeks per year - 35 hours a week

The Child Health is directly responsible to the Health Services Coordinator and ensures that the Health Services are in compliance with the National Head Start Performance Standards. It is the understanding and expectation of this organization that all employees will take the opportunity to contribute to the overall success and mission of the agency above and beyond the basic requirements of their job.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the agency's policy on confidentiality both within the agency and the community and adhere to all program policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with all program staff to ensure an integrated approach and provide comprehensive services to children and families.
  • Ensure that all children receive required screenings and educational preparation prior to each screening.
  • Organize screening results, pertinent medical family history, current health, and nutrition information for identifying those children and families who may need special assistance or intervention. 
  • Respond to and assist with referrals from staff and parents regarding health problems of children and/or their families. 
  • Provide assistance to education and home based staff in planning and implementing health activities for children.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with community agencies providing Health   Services for Head Start/Early Head Start children and serve as an advocate for children and their families.
  • Work with the Health Services Coordinator in developing and implementing resources and trainings for staff and parents on topics in the Health Services areas.
  • Become or remain certified as a CPR/First Aid instructor and a Medication Administration instructor.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all health services provided using the ChildPlus database. Ensure that any medical services are in compliance with NYS MAT procedures.
  • Utilize professional reading, writing and communication skills in order to carry out necessary job   requirements.
  • Assist in the annual revision of the Comprehensive Program Plan, Policies and Procedures, Community Assessment and in the program self assessment.
  • Attend upon request all staff and other appropriate meetings, trainings and conferences. Some of which may necessitate out-of-county travel and evening/overnight attendance.

Qualifications:

  • New York State Registered Nurse 
  • Preferably experience in Community, Public Health and Early Childhood with evidence of out reach and link-up with community agencies and providers.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • An understanding of young children and low-income families, and an appreciation of parents as the primary educators of their children.

 

Home Visitors - Hudson Falls

Salary: $13.49/hr. - (1) 44 weeks per year - 35 hours a week  (1) 52 weeks per year - 35 hours a week

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support the program's School Readiness Goals and the Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) goals.
  • Work closely with all program staff to ensure an integrated approach and provide comprehensive services to children and families.
  • Maintain a caseload of 10 children and their families to whom Head Start/Early Head Start services are delivered within the home setting.
  • Provide early childhood and family & community partnership services to children and families in the caseload.
  • Recruit families for the Home-Based program.
  • Complete all documentation and appropriate filing on families.
  • Complete and submit all required reports to the Home-Based Coordinator.
  • Utilize professional reading, writing and communication skills in order to carry out necessary job requirements.
  • Maintain all Home-Based materials and equipment.
  • Adhere to all requirements for random drug and alcohol screening.
  • Attend upon request all staff and other appropriate meetings, trainings and conferences.  Some of which may require out-of-county travel and evening/overnight attendance.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Deegree or equivalent college degree in Early Childhood and/or Human Services.
  • An understanding of young children and low-income families, and an appreciation of parents as the primary educators of their children.
  • Valid driver's license.
