Washington County EOC Head Start/Early Head Start is looking for dynamic individuals to promote and support the program's School Readiness goals and the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) goals.  The following positions are currently available:

Family Advocate - Cambridge Center

Salary: $13.88/hr. - 35 hours a week - 52 weeks per year

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist with recruitment and identification of eligible children.
Assist in planning and providing educational activities for parents.
Encourage parents and community engagement in all areas of the program.
Preparation of required records.
Provide information, referrals, advocacy, counseling and follow-up services to families.
Monitor children's attendance.
Serve as an advocate for Head Start/Early Head Start families.
Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Human Services or related field.
Valid driver's license.

 

Disabilities Manager - Hudson Falls

Hourly Wage: $16.97/hr.  52 week position - 35 hours a week

Responsibilities:

Facilitate Special Education Referrals.
Strong organizational skills.
Self-starter; able to work independently to complete time sensitive requirements.
Work with area school districts to advocate for children.
Provide special education training to parents and staff.
Coordinate related service providers and/or any additional staff working with children with special needs.

Qualifications:

Preferred; A Bachelor's degree in Special Education. With a commitment to the inclusion of children with disabilities in classrooms with typically developing peers and an understanding of the laws for preschool special education.
Experience working with parents and preschool children with disabilities.
Valid driver's license.

 

Child Health Nurse, RN - River Street CenterSalary

Hourly Wage: $16.97/hr. - 52 weeks per year - 35 hours a week

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the agency's policy on confidentiality both within the agency and the community and adhere to all program policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with all program staff to ensure an integrated approach and provide comprehensive services to children and families.
  • Ensure that all children receive required screenings and educational preparation prior to each screening.
  • Organize screening results, pertinent medical family history, current health, and nutrition information for identifying those children and families who may need special assistance or intervention.
  • Respond to and assist with referrals from staff and parents regarding health problems of children and/or their families.
  • Provide assistance to education and home based staff in planning and implementing health activities for children.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with community agencies providing Health Services for Head Start/Early Head Start children and serve as an advocate for children and their families.
  • Work with the Health Services Coordinator in developing and implementing resources and trainings for staff and parents on topics in the Health Services areas.
  • Become or remain certified as a CPR/First Aid instructor and a Medication Administration instructor.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all health services provided using the ChildPlus database. Ensure that any medical services are in compliance with NYS MAT procedures.
  • Utilize professional reading, writing and communication skills in order to carry out necessary job requirements.
  • Assist in the annual revision of the Comprehensive Program Plan, Policies and Procedures, Community Assessment and in the program self assessment.
  • Attend upon request all staff and other appropriate meetings, trainings and conferences. Some of which may necessitate out-of-county travel and evening/overnight attendance.

Qualifications:

  • New York State Registered Nurse
  • Preferably experience in Community, Public Health and Early Childhood with evidence of out reach and link-up with community agencies and providers.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • An understanding of young children and low-income families, and an appreciation of parents as the primary educators of their children.

 

Home Visitor - Hudson Falls

Hourly Wage: $14.51/hr. - (1) 52 weeks per year - 35 hours a week

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support the program's School Readiness Goals and the Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) goals.
  • Work closely with all program staff to ensure an integrated approach and provide comprehensive services to children and families.
  • Maintain a caseload of 10 children and their families to whom Head Start/Early Head Start services are delivered within the home setting.
  • Provide early childhood and family & community partnership services to children and families in the caseload.
  • Recruit families for the Home-Based program.
  • Complete all documentation and appropriate filing on families.
  • Complete and submit all required reports to the Home-Based Coordinator.
  • Utilize professional reading, writing and communication skills in order to carry out necessary job requirements.
  • Maintain all Home-Based materials and equipment.
  • Adhere to all requirements for random drug and alcohol screening.
  • Attend upon request all staff and other appropriate meetings, trainings and conferences.  Some of which may require out-of-county travel and evening/overnight attendance.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Deegree or equivalent college degree in Early Childhood and/or Human Services.
  • An understanding of young children and low-income families, and an appreciation of parents as the primary educators of their children.
  • Valid driver's license.
